Birdland, Circa 1850 on the Potomac River in VA
Birdland is a beautifully restored historic Tidewater farmhouse of approximately 2,474 square feet on the Potomac River in Westmoreland County, Virginia. This magical bird sanctuary of about 5.910 acres is situated on land once owned by novelist John Dos Passos.
The home has wide breathtaking views upriver and downriver to the Chesapeake Bay. The property enjoys excellent 10 feet elevation with armor stone riprap and jetties for shoreline enhancement. A private beach and dock with seating leads to deep water.
Birdland was expanded in 2006 with a spacious great room appointed by bookcases, vaulted ceiling, fireplace and wet bar. The home has a screened porch and deck on the waterside and porch with columns on the front. Birdland is exceptionally private because it is surrounded on three sides by the Dos Passos Farm which is in conservation easement. Outbuildings include a bed shed near the river, a storage shed and a greenhouse. Four bedroom conditional septic.
