Sherman-Barrett House Details

Astoria's most revered architect, John E. Wicks, designed this elegant Craftsman home for Henry W. Sherman and his wife, Charlotte "Lottie" Sherman in 1907. Henry and his father incorporated the Sherman Transfer Company, a livery and drayage business, which he continued to operate until his death.
In 1915, the house was sold to local attorney Jasper J. Barrett. Barrett was elected District Attorney in 1918 and in 1921 was elected City attorney.
The Sherman-Barrett house is one of the finest examples of Wicks Craftsman architecture in Astoria. The home exhibits beautiful original detailing and exquisite Craftsman artistry.
