This elegant c.1842 Greek Revival home built for the John Burton family has seen many uses including a hospital during the Battle of Perryville, school known as Elmwood Academy at the turn of the century and popular regional restaurant in the 1970s and 1980s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. In 1990 it was extensively renovated and opened as Elmwood Inn Tea Room and their businesses, Elmwood Inn Fine Tea and Benjamin Press were operated in this location by the present owners. The internationally known tea business and Benjamin Press has a new location in nearby Danville, Ky.
