History and Beauty in a Secluded Setting
The Farmhouse, known as the Norcom-Hassell house, was built in 1870 by one of the largest landowners in the region, Dr. Norcom. The property was then purchased in the 1880s by a Mr. Hassell, who was the farm manager of a large nearby estate, Greenfield. We bought the property in the late 1980s in order to raise our two young girls in a farm environment and were only the second family to occupy the house as, at the time of purchase, the farm was still owned by the Hassell family.
The cottage was moved onto the property in 1988 and is an 1850's farm manager's house also built by the Norcom family. The guest house was a mill village circa 1900 house that was moved onto the property in 1991. The entire property is 100 acres with the three dwellings and multiple outbuildings and we are entertaining offers on the entire property. For the history of how three historic dwellings came to be here go to our facebook page. For more pictures of the Norcom-Hassell, Norcom-Moran and guest house with room dimensions go to our website at Bloomhomestead.com . And for unbiased opinions on the farm go to airbnb (through which we rent out the guest house) and pull up Edenton, NC to read the reviews from our guests.
