Historic Nashville Plantation Home

Recently filmed for HGTV's "If Walls Could Talk", the historic Vaughn House is a rare example of antebellum Italianate architechture in the metro Nashville area.

Originally a three-room structure built by David Vaughn ca. 1820, the present-day house was built by his son, Michael Vaughn in 1853. The Vaughn's owned thousands of acres of Tennessee real estate, and were notable lawyers, congressmen, developers, and even successful distillers.

The home has entertained the likes of Andrew Jackson, John Bell Hood, William Tecumseh Sherman, and was owned by Irby Morgan in the 1880s,a former goods buyer for the Confederate army, and first cousin of Gen. John Hunt Morgan.

Featuring original hardwoods and hand-carved trim, three-brick-thick exterior and interior walls, several original mantles with hand-painted tiles, a "free floating" staircase with solid cherry handrail and newell posts, plumbing and gas lighting fixtures installed in the 1880's and much more--all inside over 5000 square feet of living space.
