Bell-Jenne House
April 7, 1881 the Falls City News reported that George A. Bell was constructing a two-story house, 26 feet by 40 feet, with 8 rooms at the cost of $3,000. It was finished by December 31, 1881, at the final cost of $4,000. In 1889, the Bells moved to Omaha and the home was purchased by W. W. Jenne and family who owned the property until 1939. Hence the name, Bell-Jenne House.
An addition containing a kitchen and bathroom was added in the 1950s. It was a family home until 1976 when it was converted into two apartments. It was donated to the Richardson County Historical Society in 1986. The Society lovingly restored the home to its original glory and added a high-efficiency heating and air conditioning unit and upgraded the electrical panel. It then served the community as a museum until 2009 when it returned to private ownership. We purchased it in 2011 and have installed new windows and roof, and remodeled the kitchen, first floor bath, and restored the front porch. In February, 2014, a laundry room and 2nd floor 3/4 bath were added.
