Spare, clean lines, 10' ceilings, original dentil moldings show homes gracious lines. Ancient Ashe trees line front yard, estimated to perhaps be the oldest, largest grove of Ashe trees in S. Carolina. Upstairs bedroom reveals name and date, Jan. 28, 1856, of a young man buried down the road at the church. He was 17 when he carved his name, 20 when he died. His brother followed shortly thereafter. Civil War? His sister died 18 months earlier leaving the parents childless.
