This 1917 home located in Bishopville, SC was built by Thomas English McCutchen. Family members indicate that the wood used in the home was cut and milled at the family farm. The exterior features a wrap around porch with 28 columns, most of which are Doric. Lap siding has mitered corners. Shaped decorative corbels are featured around the fascia of the roof overhang. A Porte’ cochere extends beyond the wrap around porch on the left side.

The home is located on .83 acres, two blocks from the two block Main Street (3500 resident)town. This two block downtown area is listed on the National Register of Historic places. Bishopville is home to The South Carolina Cotton Museum, The Opera House circa. 1900, and the Topiary Gardens of Pearl Fryar. Bishopville is conveniently located off exits 116 and 120 of I-20. 2 hours from Charleston and Myrtle Beach. Florence, Sumter, Camden and Darlington and I-95 are 30 minutes away. Columbia is less than an hour from Bishopville.

This home has under gone an extensive restoration/renovation directed by a professional interior designer ASID (the owner) with historic restoration background.

In addition to athestic improvements, a new roof, heat/air unit, wiring, complete new plumbing from meter,hot water heater, etc. were installed.Refinished hardwood floors throughout. The large kitchen features new cabinets, lighting, ebony stained floors, appliances, quartz solid surface counter tops. Baths (2) feature travertine floors, tile tub surrounds, hi rise toilets and new lighting. Large walk in closet (formally a sleeping porch) was incorporated. The original configuration of rooms are intact. The center hallway extends from front to back of home. A dramatic staircase is flanked by Ionic columns and splits in two directions at landing. Hallway fireplace features cast stone with egg and dart molding details. Other rooms include four bedrooms (1 on main floor), dining room, living room, and library. A large upper hallway could serve as a media/den. Seven fireplaces, extensive millwork, heart pine and oak floors throughout. Exterior horizontal wood siding, old original glass exist in most windows. Two sets of operable pocket doors close off the living/dining room. High wainscoting with plate rack in dining room. Extensive exterior cornice details exist around the porch and upper level roofline.
