History

The grand Victorian Farmhouse on 2114 N. Pollard has been part of the Cherrydale community for generations. Built without running water, electricity or a telephone line, with a provenance that dates back to the 1890s, this home has stood through two world wars and countless technological advancements. The farmhouse was here when the Cherrydale Volunteer Firehouse was built in 1919 and when the streetcars that crisscrossed Northern Virginia came and went. At one time, the ground floor of the house was even used as the local country store before the family who owned it transformed it into the porch that stands there today.

The families who have lived here have added to the home’s story, bringing it up to date as each decade passed, from installing indoor plumbing, upgrading the electrical systems, adding radiant heat flooring, and adding wireless internet. Through it all, the house maintains the charm that it had when it was built with enough advancements to make it move-in-ready for generations to come.
