Historic James B. Arthur House

James B. Arthur House
James B. Arthur House
James B. Arthur got his start in Colorado by cutting and selling prairie grass hay. Later he turned to raising stock on the open range. In 1882 he built this stately Queen Anne Victorian house, reputedly one of Fort Collins finest. Embellished with black walnut, Tennessee marble and stained glass, the house was used for parties and church affairs. Arthur invested in local businesses and served as an officer in the Masons, the county, and the town, serving as mayor from 1893 to 1894.
