The Redwine House at F:8 Acres

This unique and historical haven is surrounded by magnificent century-old hardwoods and towering river birch; and exotic perennial plants, bushes and flowers abound. The grounds will take your breath away as you commune with nature in the tranquil and private surroundings. A feast for the senses all year long, you will be calmed by the floating butterflies in the spring; hear the waterfalls, croaking frogs and chirping crickets in summer; fall in love with autumn canvases cascading all around you; and feel the crispness of a new perspective with the brisk air and occasional beauty of snowscapes in winter.

The Redwine House original structure was built circa 1883 for Dr. J.W. Redwine and family. In 1976, the home was purchased by the Alexanders who have made this their home for the last 34 years. The Alexanders named the estate F:8 Acres in a fond reference to Mr. Alexander’s profession and passion as a well-known architectural and engineering photographer and photo artist. F:8 refers to a camera lens aperture.

The main house features foyer, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, kitchen, dining room, sitting room/library, garden room, The Well House Room (family room), 4 covered porches, 8 fireplaces and a covered deck is situated just steps off of the rear of the home. Much of the home has Heart of Pine flooring, decorative period details, moldings and trims as well as solid oak beams. Although the main house retains most of its original architectural details and high quality craftsmanship, there is a central theme of a blend of eclectic artistic influence throughout. Combining tastes of young with old and old with new.

The “Well House Room” is a 2100sf addition designed to complement the main home and was built in 1988. The room was built around the original well that has been preserved and the spectacular floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace which is the focal point surrounded by mammoth oak beams and architectural details. The Alexanders put a lot of thought and creativity when planning this room to garner the most pleasure and functionality while maintaining the integrity and quality in reflection of the period along with some new twists. The Garden Room (sunroom) was also created at the time of the addition, offers picturesque views of waterfalls adjacent to koi pond deck and covered Arbor. The Arbor is roughly 770sf and is also adorned with a breathtaking outdoor stone fireplace.

There are two utility sheds/workshops and an oversized detached garage with covered porch and an upstairs bonus room which would make a nice guest house. There is even a 6000sf heated log structure equipped with full kitchen and 1 ½ baths. The building has an attached lean-to on the right side running the length of the building large enough to accommodate six vehicles. A second attached lean-to runs across the rear of the building. Amenities include 200sf Greenhouse, ½ court concrete basketball court, full court sand volleyball court, and walking and garden trails.

The estate has accommodated a number of very large banquets, receptions and events over the years hosting gatherings for as many as 200 guests. It is perfect for a new owner to make it their own or a developer to realized the uniqueness and uncover a new found potential.
The Redwine House at F:8 Acres is a charming jewel, a nostalgic place whispering you home.
