This Folk Victorian house with Gothic influences, c 1918, was the home of A.E. Gerig, cashier of the Munroe and Chambliss Bank in the early 20th Century. His brother, who was a local contractor known to have built other homes in the area, possibly built it. The Gerig name is also associated with a Mayor of Ocala early in the century. Featured on Historic Ocala Preservation Societies 2007 Annual Heritage Tour and received the Beautification Award in 2006. Completely remodeled / updated including metal roof, new back yard pool and gardens, new kitchen, baths, 2 AC's, restored wood floors, all new lighting fixtures and plumbing and electrical update. The home features all original window glass, crown molding, three fireplaces, an office, and an upstairs sleeping porch now used as a child's playroom. All interior paint was custom mixed with each room featuring its own unique color. The kitchen, baths and fireplaces have been hand painted in faux finishes and the downstairs powder room features a unique metal floor and glass sink. The exterior painting alone was an eight month project, done completely by hand and retaining the three color tradition. The four year project was truely a labor of love and a lifelong dream!
