1929 Dutch Colonial

1929 Dutch Colonial - Gordan Van Tines Design

3 Acres in a Beautiful CT River Town
3 Acres in a Beautiful CT River Town
This home was ordered thru a catalog and shipped in pieces to Haddam, CT where it was built carefully by a local craftsman to specs provided via mail order. The original character is preserved within the house including built in's, oak floors, butler cabinets, stairway landing, etc. The acreage alone is a precious commodity. The catalog from which this was ordered has been found with all the details of new and emerging "options" such as furnaces and electric light fixtures. The catalog (book) itself is a good read as the US is embarking on a major housing boom at the time of its construction.
This "Kit Home" ordered from a Home Magazine has all qualities from the catalog intact. Original features in the kitchen, bathrooms and built ins give this home character and charm. House sits prominently on a scenic road in the Lower Connecticut River town of Haddam, CT
