Frank McCoy House - Sistersville, WV

A jewel of a community located along the Ohio River between Wheeling and Parkersburg in West Virginia. Families from around the country are relocating to Sistersville for its historic charm, well preserved homes, low cost of living, excellent school system, wonderful local hospital, doctors and dentist, plus an affordable country club. Sistersville remains a community where doors can remain unlocked and neighbors look out for each other. It is an easy walk to the grocery store, pharmacy, library or city pool.

The Frank McCoy House is a contributing structure in the Sistersville Historic District and is eligible for state historic preservation grants as well as historic tax credits. The original slate roof was repaired in part with grant funds. Current owners have made significant repairs, including installation of central air, replacement of front and back porches, exterior painting, installation of storm windows and restoration of floors and woodwork. They had also hired professional landscapers.

The house has four bedrooms with seven fireplaces. In addition to a formal parlor, the downstairs has a dining room with pocket doors, family room and a remarkably large kitchen for a Victorian house with a walk in pantry. There is a full bathroom upstairs and a half bath downstairs. Part of the basement has been converted into a laundry room with an extra refrigerator. The stand up attic provides excellent storage and has the potential to be converted into additional living space.
