The Samuel Rue House
Lovingly restored by its current owners, the Samuel Rue house was originally built by William Cox and was purchased by Mary Potts Rue prior to her marriage. The Rue's, a prominent Upper Freehold Township Quaker family, added a servants wing circa 1830. The home has two fireplaces, the dining room fireplace has a wood stove, and the parlor has a natural gas log fireplace. Original wide red cedar and red and white pine flooring, an exposed brick wall in the kitchen, crown molding in the parlor and the center hall, front door with original transom and sidelights, are just the beginning of many other historic features. Property includes an original outhouse, chicken coop shed and a carriage house with attached greenhouse.
