Hennigan Place is highly original, as it had never been modified, heated, wired or plumbed prior to the current owners acquiring it 40 years ago, and bring it fully up to code with all new systems. The interior features high ceilings, heart pine floors, beautiful plaster and handmade moldings. The main house has 3 fireplaces - in the Master Bedroom, Living Room & Dining Room.

Hennigan Place is an authentic 1840 plantation restored back to "how it was" when life was slower and more peaceful. Hennigan Place is a local landmark and has been toured by groups from Historic Brattonsville (Museum of York County), Latta Place, Rosedale, Historic Charlotte, and Lower Providence Community House, among others. It has also hosted Historic Restoration classes from the Art Institute of Charlotte many times. Hennigan Place has been painted in oils by a local well known artist and displayed at South Park.
This exquisite antebellum plantation, Hennigan Place, was built circa 1840 by James E. Hennigan, a prominent Mecklenburg County planter and local politician. The vernacular Upcountry Transitional Federal/Greek Revival home has been painstakingly restored and maintained to its former glory. It is a Mecklenburg County Historic Site.
It features a wide front porch and beautiful formal gardens.
