Property and area description

This beautiful property is located in Bonneville, a charming alpine village at 1,000m of altitude, about 30 minutes from the Italian and Swiss borders. There are several prestigious skis resorts nearby such as Chamonix-Mont Blanc(30 min.), Megeve, Flaine, Morzine, and Avoriaz.

This house has a unique artistic character in that each bedroom has an original hand painted mural on the walls, accompanied by poems or quotes that give the “theme” of the room: e.g. the African room, the Asian room, the Blue room, etc.. Each bedroom also has its own balcony and most bedrooms have their own sink.

There is a wraparound balcony on 3 sides of the ground floor which overlooks the village valley and offers a fantastic view of the mountains across, some of which have snowy peaks all year long. There is also a large deck on one side of the house with another gorgeous view of the mountains to the north and east.

This property was built to be an alpine hotel and has been used as a bed and breakfast. It was initially planned to be larger that it is now and so the foundations were built to be very sturdy. It is a very well built house. The construction is made of stone, concrete, bricks and wood construction, which makes for a very solid house. The entresol and ground floor walls are 24 inches thick (60cm). The foundations walls are made of large field stones. The first and second floor are made of rubble-stone covered with roughcast on the outside and the third floor walls are covered with wood. The roof is made out of tiles and is in excellent condition. The house is healthy, with no traces of humidity.

The Haute-Savoie region is absolutely gorgeous and offers various cultural and artistic activities throughout the year, and all kinds of outdoor activities, such as skiing, mountain climbing, rafting, swimming, horseback riding and sailing on Annecy and Leman lakes. In the summer there are numerous regional fairs and festivals.

There are several wonderful cities nearby, such as Geneva (30 min., Annecy (45 min.) and Chamonix (30min.).

To get to Bonneville:
By plane: international airports in Geneva (30 min.) and Lyon (1hr30min.); local airport in Annecy.
By train: TGV train station is 20 min. from the house. Travel to Paris by TGV is 3.5 hr.
