More About This House

Someone opened up a can of "historic wonder" and sprayed it all over this house and MAGIC, in the blink of eye, several generations dating from the mid 1700's now
give blessings on this house sale for the select buyer. Very well maintained over the ages and close to its original state, (bathrooms excepted, of course!) Take a
breathtaking trip through history, a very pure and well-kept historic, center-chimney Colonial with large rooms, nice stenciling, a formal front entrance with upstairs
landing, a great room with working fireplace and hearth, and large windows overlooking a private, well-landscaped, heavenly, backyard with a row of crab apple trees,
pergola, patio, and perennial plantings. Flower garden with veggie beds too. Protection all around from encroachment because you own the land. Inside, marvel over a
brick-arched cooking enclave and wonderful pantry. Ruminate on the pegged post-and-beam construction of the great room where the space is more than adequate for
the dining pleasures of family and guests alike. They will all be "wowed." Throughout the home are many built-in formal cabinets and 7 fireplaces! Twin side-by-side
bedrooms, a master bedroom that will awe you & also authentic historical glass. Hardware too! Add to this a library, extra storage, a formal dining room and love. Folks,
the house really does impress and deserves a buyer that will take great care as these owners have done. Storage? Yes! Head room? Yes! Comfort and charm? Yes! Near
Scoby lake.

Surrounding Area

Francestown NH is the easternmost town within the Monadnock region of NH. The town maintains an unabashed love of private conservation property, town-owned forests, and other large protected parcels that are open for public use with the exception of wheeled vehicles. The town's residential structures are largely historic homes, country or equine properties and for the most part are homogenous in look and feel, but not cookie cutter in flavor. The town is within 35 minutes of Manchester and 40 minutes to Nashua, NH, both considered high tech towns but still retaining their unique NH history and feel. Concord NH is 50 minutes from Francestown.

The village store is the 2nd oldest continuously running village store in the Unoted States. The store is now undergoing renovations and will reopen soon as a non profit, owned under the auspicies of the Francestown Historical society.

There is plenty of hunting and fishing in Francestown as well as an 18 hole golf course and pro shop, with attached restaurant AND pub. Maple syrup manufacture and sales are common in Francestown. Dinner parties, and town happenings such as the labor day parade with arts and craft displays and ham and bean supper are easy ways to get involved as are the recreation committee, the annual fishing derby at the town pond or being a quilter, a square dancer, a volunteer fireman/woman, or simply providing rides to those in the area that might not be able to drive anymore.

Just over the line from Francestown is downhill skiing at the Crotched Mountain Ski Resort. There is an in house bar and restaurant as well as traditional cafeteria style dining for the skiers. Lifts are many and the lines are short! A great way to spend a day or half day and be home in time for the game!

Generally, Peterborough, NH is considered the HUB town for this area, with the towns of Antrim, Bennington, Greenfield, Francestown, Hancock, Temple and Sharon doing the main grocery shopping and banking needs in Peterborough. Peterborough has many restaurants, a cinema, a car-wash, and a fabulous bookstore... it is everything Thorton Wilder imagined as small town America when he wrote "OUR TOWN." Are you an antiquarian? Then you will fit right in in Francestown and the Monadnock region. Each town has something to offer.

Nearby to the Monadnock region of course are the Souhegan, Sunapee, Keene and Jaffrey areas. Jaffrey NH is home to Mount Monadnock, the 2nd most climbed mountain in America!

This part of NH is renowned for its beautiful landscapes, summer and winter moons, its wildlife, its trails,
