Why We Love This House
___________Live the country life in a classic Arts & Crafts Bungalow
___________
The word "charming" is often misused but not when describing our home. When we bought it back in the mid-1980s, we succumbed to that charm and never regretted it. My brother-in-law christened our country retreat "Spring Street Resort" and that's what this house has been: a resort, a retreat, a home.
We love these things most about this house - the many windows, the oak and maple wood floors (from 1930!), the higher ceilings (9 foot high on the 1st floor, 8 foot high on the second floor), the walk-in closets in every bedroom, and the hot water radiators.
And, of course, the space! Step outside and enjoy the expansive lawn because the house sits on 3+ acres. And it's surrounded by farmland usually planted in either corn, soybeans, or wheat. The barn contributes to the country ambience but actually is a great storage place.
Fun is right outside your backdoor with the horseshoe court near the lilac and oak tree alley on the west lawn. The east lawn has room enough for baseball, volleyball, football, or soccer. Since the house and outbuildings are set back from the road, the grassy knoll in the front can be used for family picnics and croquet. Room enough for everyone!
Spring Street Resort is ready to welcome you. Stop by and see for yourself the many fine features of this home. You may decide that "charming" is the right word for this home and you may want to make it your own. But whatever you decide, enjoy your visit!
