The trail is located a short distance from the house. Sedalia is an ideal place for families and retirees. Whiteman Air Force Base is 20 minutes away and University of Central Missouri is 30 minutes away.

If you have ever wanted to own a grand older home, this eminent dwelling in historic Sedalia, Missouri, is a step back in time to a more elegant and genteel life.

History

The home, which is one of the most prominent and attractive in the City, was built in 1914 by the President of a local bank. It has been owned by just five families in its 102 year history. The second family to own and live in the home were direct decedents of Missouri’s first Governor, Alexander McNair. They were Clarence and later William Ilgenfritz. The actress who played Dorothy in the silent screen version of the Wizard of Oz, Sedalia native Dorothy Dwan (Ilgenfritz), was part owner in the 1940’s. Another family member and part owner, McNair Ilgenfritz, was an internationally recognized pianist and published composer. Some of his recordings can still be heard today.
