ca 1830 Federal Farmhouse
To the right of the main house is the ca 1860s addition and to the left is the ca 2009 handicap accessible addition.
Front Hall
Entering through the original front door with its transom light and box lock, the hall's "Shaker style" stairway leads up to the second floor and the third floor attic "Study". The stenciled floors in the hall and living room have been restored.
Living Room
The large size of this gracious room with its 9' ceiling, original fireplace, wide board floors and large six over six windows makes it a decorator's and collector's delight as it allows for the display of large pieces of furniture and art work.
Gourmet Country Kitchen
Plenty of room in this eat-in kitchen for the whole gang to pitch in to cook and bake wonderful holiday meals. Some of the cabinet doors are made from 18th century raised panel shutters.
Another Kitchen View
The beautiful low maintenance tile floor ,which continues from the kitchen into the addition, makes cleaning up spills or muddy paw prints almost enjoyable.
Addition Family Room
Although the exterior of the five year old addition appears to be pure early 19th century, inside you'll find 21st century design features such as 11' ceilings and radiant heated floors. An energy efficient Reiker heater ceiling fan can also heat the entire room if the radiant heat is not being used. Large true divided light windows and door by Marvin Windows allow plenty of sunshine in. The addition was built to allow free access to anyone who might have difficulty negotiated a normally designed living area and bath.
One of Three Bathrooms
The addition's handicap accessible bathroom has a radiant heated floor and 11'ceiling. The large walk in or roll-in shower has been designed to be not only beautiful but safe.
Second Floor Hall
The door to the right opens to the "master bedroom" and the stairway goes up to the attic landing and a "study" entered through two original double doors.
Master Bedroom/Music Room
This spacious room accomodates
a king size bed, two federal bureaus, two pembroke tables, blanket chest, a two draw stand, a full size couch and a baby grand piano with room to spare. Three six over six windows make this a very bright, happy room. There is a walk in closet and full bath adjacent to the bedroom. There is another bedroom on this floor now being used as a playroom.
Stone Foundation Cellar
The cellar has three rooms and outside entrance. High ceilings make it useful for working on a project or enjoying a glass of wine.
Herb Garden Office Entrance
This door, in the ca 1860 addition, opens into an office/bedroom, laundry room, second bedroom/dining room and a full bath. A large bookcase in the office conceals a door to the adjoining second bedroom/dining room.
Mud Room Kitchen Entryway
Large windows make this a very bright little room in which to start Spring seedlings or view the garden or watch the birds.
Garden Potting Shed
The Potting shed is large enough not only for garden purposes but also for storing fishing equipment, tools, etc, etc. The bare patch in the grass is courtesy of our three little grandsons and their sandbox.
Garden Patio View
The layout of the brick patio and garden area with hydrangeas, boxwood and four fruit bearing pear trees is semi-formal in design. Flower gardens are located on the side and front of the house.
Driveway/Garden
There is parking for two vehicles in the driveway as well as on street parking for more. The gate at the top of the driveway leads into the patio and the three rear entrances to the house.
