Once part of a large plantation, the log portion of the house and the acreage was given to the owners' son when he returned from the Civil War.
General Store
The two story, 3000 sq. ft. general store operated from the late 1800's to the 1930's. It was also the post office and the first switchboard in the area. Original display cases, counters, bins and shelves are still there.
The large kitchen
The kitchen contains one of two built-in original cupboards and soapstone sink and countertop. The large pantry, off of the kitchen, has original shelving and the laundry area.
Master Bedroom
The Master Bedroom has ample closet space and a large bathroom with tub, shower and soapstone countertop.
Cozy Family
Family room fireplace and original stone chimney were photographed, dismantled and rebuilt to original to assure safe use for burning wood.
Rebuilt Chimney
Pictures taken prior to rebuild. Each stone was painstakingly removed and rebuilt exactly as the original to assure safe use for burning wood.
Guest Bedroom
Additional bedroom, part of the original home complete with fireplace.
