Early 1800's Log House

Lovingly restored early 1800's single-pen two story log house (mostly poplar, some oak) with frame additions on 66.5 wooded acres. The kitchen is very old, probably contemporaneous with the log construction. The parlor and entry hall are later, but still 19th Century. A 24'x32' single story addition housing a home office/library, potter's studio, and large bath was built in 1996 (this addition could be used as a downstairs master bedroom suite). Exterior siding, with the exception of one exposed log wall, is poplar board and batten installed (with full insulation) in 1996. The old metal roof has been repaired and recoated. Original wood floors are present throughout. Several rooms have beaded board tongue and groove paneling. The older upstairs rooms have old wide board paneling on both walls and ceiling. Original stone chimney has open fireplace in downstairs log pen and cook stove flue in kitchen. Both staircases are the old enclosed style. Electricity and plumbing were first installed in this house in 1994.

Outbuildings include two barns (one tobacco, one general purpose), shed, chicken house, pump house, run-in horse shed, and outhouse. The property is bounded on three sides by Glenn's Creek and a smaller tributary. Old stone fence marks part of the boundary.

Less than 6 miles from Bluegrass Pkwy and only 25 miles from Bardstown. Lexington/central Bluegrass area and Louisville Metro are less than an hour away.
